What is this Dental Procedure about?

Most of us are not born with perfectly straight teeth, but Braces can help straighten crooked teeth and realign offset bites so that you too can have a confident and winning smile. If you’re curious about the process of getting braces on your teeth, read on!

How are teeth straightened?

In this interactive procedure, we will begin by going over which dental issues Braces are used to address, and you will assist in taking an impression of the patient’s teeth in order to create a mold so that we can make custom dental appliances for them. Once the Braces are ready to be used, you will polish our patient’s teeth, and then insert molar bands to ensure the anchoring of the Braces. After that you will use a bonding agent to bond the brackets to each of the teeth. Once all the teeth have been bracketed, you will insert archwire through each bracket to connect them, clip the ends of the archwire for comfort, and apply elastic ligatures so that the archwire will stay in place.

Most people fear a Root Canal and believe that is one of the worst things that you could possibly experience. That is simply not true! There are so many misconceptions about this common dental procedure which we will clear up today. A Root Canal is a type of endodontic procedure which repairs and saves an abscessed or decayed tooth. In this interactive procedure, you will assist in isolating and cleaning the root canal of the tooth with a special file. After thoroughly cleaning the area through a method known as irrigation, you will use a rubber compound known as gutta-percha to fill the cavity and seal the tooth off. After the Root Canal is complete, we’ll go over how to avoid tooth decay and dental disease moving forward. Doesn’t sound like the worst thing ever, now does it? So scrub in and let’s get started!

Ouch! You chipped your tooth while playing ball. Let’s take a look and see if we can’t help you to get it looking as good as new. A dental crown is a fake looking tooth that is placed as a cap on an injured tooth, and it will strengthen the tooth and improve its appearance. In this interactive Dental Crown Placement procedure, you will first place a temporary crown on the affected tooth. We’ll go over the different kinds of dental crown materials, metal, porcelain, and ceramic, as well as learn about the reasons to use each kind. Then you will customize a permanent tooth to match the patient’s tooth color and shape. Once the permanent tooth is ready, you will place it on to restore our patients tooth to its former glory. It’s time to get started, so let’s scrub in!

Have you ever suffered from pain in your mouth due to your third molars, better known as your wisdom teeth? This pain leads to dental problems and often results in having the teeth removed. Luckily, a Wisdom Tooth Extraction is a fairly common procedure and can be the remedy to an impacted tooth, which doesn’t break through the gums, or a tooth which has come through the gums that may still require removal. In this procedure, you’ll start by getting x-rays of the problem tooth, numbing the site, and then injecting a local anesthetic. After that, you will have to loosen the periodontal ligament and then lift the tooth using a dental elevator. Using dental forceps, you will loosen and finally remove the tooth. When you’re finished, we’ll go over the patient’s healing and recovery process. It’s time to get started, so let’s scrub in!

Going to the dentist isn’t the highlight of everyone’s day, but sometime in our life, many of us will get a cavity which will need to be treated and filled. Dental filings are one of the most common dental procedures that helps to prolong the life of a tooth, reduce bacteria and its effects, and most importantly to prevent the need for any other serious dental work. In this interactive Dental Filling procedure, you begin by removing the decay in the cavity using a dental drill. Then we’ll go over the types of fillings, amalgam or composite, and choose to use on our patient. After the procedure, we’ll go over the proper steps to prevent any further decay and deal with any sensitivity that will likely occur for a while after the filling is placed. So it’s time to put on your gloves and grab your drill!

Have you experienced an excess of sore throats or throat infections? Then you may want to consult your doctor about a Tonsillectomy. This surgical procedure removes the tonsils which are located on each side of the back of the mouth. Tonsils function to fight off infection, but sometimes they become infected themselves, and if this occurs too often, it may be time to permanently remove them. During this interactive procedure, you will remove the infected tonsils from the sides of the mouth, by doing so this will expose the connective tissue and you will use a cauterizing tool and tonsil clamp to remove them and seal off the blood vessels. After the Tonsillectomy surgery, we’ll discuss recovery. So go ahead, scrub in and let’s get started!
